1:00 -2:30 p.m.

Investment: $25/FREE to monthly unlimited members

We all know that excessive stress can have devastating effects on our health and happiness. However, when the nervous system is working as it should, it helps to keep us safe in moments of danger and gives us enough of an edge to excel instead of crumbling when opportunity knocks.

Join Karen for a discussion followed by a pranayama and asana practice designed to help you use breath and movement to impact your nervous system for better health and a more joyful life.

Topics will include:

  • The 2 major divisions of the Autonomic Nervous System (Sympathetic and Parasympathetic) and an exploration of why they sometimes fail to work in harmony

  • Basic anatomy and function of the diaphragm and explanation of how pranayama can be used as a bridge between the Sympathetic (fight or flight) and the Parasympathetic (rest and digest) divisions of the Autonomic Nervous System

  • The importance of a strong asana practice for balancing the nervous system, and relieving tension in the body
